Shatush

Shatush

Shatush coloring in Warsaw is a technique for highlighting hair without foils—the dye reacts with the air, creating a naturally sun-kissed effect. At PIED-DE-POULE, we match shades to the structure and color of your base. Schedule an appointment and see how this method will transform your hairstyle.

Reaction with air instead of foil

The Shatush technique involves free application – the lack of foil gives softer and more irregular color transitions.

Color away from the roots – scalp intact

We apply the preparation 5 cm from the roots – the scalp and hair bulbs are not in contact with the chemicals.

The effect of invisible roots

The color begins naturally at the lengths – the roots grow in harmoniously, without sharp contrast.

Personalization for every type of beauty

We select shades individually – to suit your complexion, eye color and initial hair tone.

Shatush in PIED-DE-POULE

Shatush is a coloring technique based on the manual application of a lightening agent to selected strands—without foil or isolating sections. The dye is applied along the lengths, avoiding the roots. We usually start 5 cm from the scalp—this makes the transition between the natural color and the lightened strands almost invisible.

The key element of this method is the product’s exposure to air during oxidation. This is what causes the boundaries between tones to be blurred, rather than sharply defined as with foil techniques. The effect looks like natural highlighting—not dye-induced.

Shatush coloring works best on dark and auburn hair—the contrast between the base and the highlighted strands is subtle but pronounced. On lighter hair, the effect is more subtle—the strands blend into the base, lending a lightness to the hairstyle. The shatush method also works on short hair, although with very short hair, the scope for customization is limited.

The price of Shatush in our Warsaw salon depends on the length and density of the hair, as well as the number of highlighted strands. The price is provided during the consultation—before the treatment, not after.

If your hair is severely damaged or excessively porous, we recommend rebuilding it before coloring – this is essential for an even and predictable result.

Shatush is often performed as a separate step after the previous one. preparing the base color and highlighting selected parts— we determine the scope during the consultation.

Shatush differs from foil-based techniques in the degree of freedom of application and the nature of the transitions. If, after consultation, you find you’re looking for a more precise highlight with more defined highlights, it’s worth exploring manual coloring based on sections and gradients.

Before your treatment, please ensure your hair is washed—no oils or conditioners applied immediately before your appointment. It’s also a good idea to bring inspiration photos—this makes choosing shades easier during your consultation.

How to apply shatush step by step?

01
Consultation and shade selection

We evaluate the base color, texture, and length of the hair. We select shades that suit the complexion and desired effect—subtle illumination or a more pronounced contrast between strands.

02
Preparing the hair and dividing it into sections

We comb the hair and divide it into working sections. With shatush, we don't create even sections like with foil techniques—we work more freely, following the natural structure of the strands.

03
Manual application of the preparation

We apply the lightener to selected strands, starting 5 cm from the roots. The application technique is flexible—it determines the naturalness and irregularity of the color transitions.

04
Oxidation in contact with air

The product works without foil—exposure to air slows and softens the reaction. We monitor each strand individually, adjusting the exposure time to achieve the desired effect.

05
Rinse and evaluate the results

After rinsing, assess the evenness and intensity of the light. If necessary, make spot corrections to selected strands before proceeding with the treatment.

06
Care and recommendations

We apply a mask that rebuilds the hair structure and discuss home care – what products to use to keep your highlighted strands shiny for as long as possible.

An effect that cannot be imitated

  • A glow that looks like the effect of sun and salt

The color on the strands is irregular and soft – as it is given by the sun, not the dye.

  • Regrowth invisible for several months

The color starts at the length – there is no line to hide at the roots.

  • Soft transitions without clear color lines

The lack of foil gives you freedom of application that other techniques do not offer.

  • A treatment without chemical contact with the scalp

The bulbs and roots remain intact throughout the application.

FAQ

  • What is the difference between shatush and other highlighting techniques?

Shatush is applied without foil—the product oxidizes upon contact with air. The effect is softer and more irregular than with techniques based on isolated sections.

  • Is this technique suitable for dark hair?

Yes, a dark base provides the best contrast. The highlighted strands look subtle and elegant, without the artificial color effect.

  • How much does the treatment cost at PIED-DE-POULE?

The price depends on hair length, density, and the number of strands to be highlighted. We provide an exact quote during the consultation—before the treatment begins.

  • How long does the effect last?

The highlight is permanent—roots grow in naturally, leaving no visible border. The luster of your strands depends on proper care: regular masks and shampoos for color-treated hair prolong the effect.

  • How to prepare for a visit?

It’s best to arrive with your hair washed—no oils or conditioners applied just before your appointment. It’s also a good idea to bring inspiration photos—they make it easier to discuss shades and the scope of the treatment.
